Minimum Caregiver Qualification
Applicants must have at least 1 year of verifiable professional caregiving experience providing care to someone other than a family member.
Professional experience may include work as a:
- Home Care Aide / Caregiver
- Personal Care Assistant
- Direct Care Worker
- Home Health Aide
- CNA
- Companion or similar professional caregiving position
Family caregiving experience alone does not meet our minimum experience requirement.
Professional References
Applicants must be able to provide three (3) professional references who can verify their work experience, reliability, or professional qualifications.
Family members and relatives are not accepted as professional references.
Please notify your references that Five Star Companion Care may contact them.
TB Screening
A current tuberculosis (TB) screening is required as part of the onboarding process.
Accepted documentation may include:
Two-Step PPD
- Both steps must be completed and documented.
- Each PPD must be read within the required 48–72-hour timeframe.
OR
QuantiFERON®-TB Gold Blood Test
- Laboratory documentation showing the test result must be provided.
Background Clearances
Background clearances are not required simply to submit an application.
Applicants who receive a conditional offer of employment will be required to complete the applicable background checks and clearances required for the position before beginning work.
Required clearances may include the Pennsylvania State Police Criminal History Check (PATCH) and any other clearances applicable to the position or assignment.
No applicant may begin providing services until all required pre-employment and onboarding requirements have been completed and approved by Five Star Companion Care.
If Selected for Employment
Applicants moving forward in the hiring process may be required to provide:
✔ Valid employment eligibility/identification documents
✔ Required TB documentation
✔ Professional references
✔ Applicable background clearances
✔ Additional documentation required for the position
✔ Completion of Five Star Companion Care orientation and required training
